Hubei Races Ahead with Full-Swing Construction of a Batch of Major Projects
At the start of the Spring Festival, a host of major projects and key initiatives across the province are advancing at full throttle with accelerated construction and resumption of production to strive for a strong Q1 economic start.
On February 24, the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, the construction site of Phase II Advanced Packaging Pilot Test and Industrialization Base Project of Hubei Yangtze Laboratory in Optics Valley bustles with activity. All construction and operation & maintenance staff have returned to their posts and are working overtime to push forward construction progress as scheduled. As one of the first batch of Hubei Laboratories, Hubei Yangtze Laboratory has built and put into operation a domestically leading advanced packaging pilot test line since its establishment in 2021. The Phase II pilot test platform and industrialization base officially broke ground last October.
"During the Spring Festival holiday, the Phase I pilot test line of the laboratory remained in operation. Researchers and technical teams stayed on duty to press ahead with the R&D, wafer verification and process tuning of core technologies for advanced packaging chips, ensuring steady progress of key scientific research tasks," said Wang Yiqun, Executive Deputy Director of Hubei Yangtze Laboratory. With the full resumption of work and production, the construction of the Phase II pilot test platform and industrialization base has entered an accelerated phase. At present, the main workshop of the Phase II pilot test project has been topped out. Equipment installation is scheduled to start in June, and the whole line will be officially put into operation in September. The main workshop of the industrialization base will break ground in March and complete topping-out in December. "We will spare no effort to finish the advanced packaging pilot test platform and industrialization base at an early date, achieve independent control over core sectors and technologies of advanced packaging, and safeguard the supply chain security of the advanced packaging industry."
In Yichang, the new-generation lithium battery project of Chunen New Energy with a total investment of 22 billion yuan and an 80GWh capacity has fully resumed construction at full speed, with more than 500 construction workers ready to launch work with high morale. At present, the steel roof construction of the project’s main workshop is drawing to a close, and all efforts are being made to complete construction and launch production in August. Upon completion, Yichang Chunen will achieve an effective production capacity of 150GWh, ranking among the world’s largest single-site lithium battery manufacturing bases in terms of production capacity.
The green circular phosphorus chemical industrial project of Yuntu Holdings with a total investment of 12 billion yuan is also advancing at accelerated pace. Construction workers remained on-site throughout the Spring Festival with non-stop construction and production to ensure steady project progress and orderly manufacturing. At present, the 200,000-ton phosphorus-based flame retardant project has entered trial production. A workforce of 130 workers operates in shifts at the 150,000-ton iron phosphate project, aiming to kick off above-ground construction by the end of April and launch trial production by year-end. Work on the 150,000-ton food-grade refined phosphoric acid project is being pressed ahead at full speed.
In addition to major industrial projects, a host of key infrastructure projects have kicked off post-Spring Festival work resumption. At the construction site of Bid Section 8 for civil works of Wuhan Metro Line 12 (Phase II North Bank Section), more than 400 builders all returned to their posts on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. Construction has resumed simultaneously across all work faces as the team strives to hit the annual construction targets. Some 500 construction workers are tackling complex geological challenges 220 meters underground at the Baokang Section of the Yangtze-to-Han River Water Diversion Project, a national major water conservancy project. The tunneling work for the 3,250-meter-long access tunnel is drawing to a close.
According to Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, all local authorities and departments across the province are stepping up services covering labor, capital, materials and other essential factors for projects, providing thoughtful living support for returning workers, and advancing the orderly resumption and accelerated construction of major projects.
